**A note on engagement sessions

As your wedding photographer, all I want is to create the best images possible….the images of your dreams. Unbeknownst to many newly engaged couples, an engagement session plays a huge part in the creation of wedding day images. I can’t stress enough how important it is to have the engagement session done with the photographer who will be photographing you on your wedding day. An engagement session is just as much a trial as your dress fitting, hair and makeup trials, cake and food tastings, venue walk throughs, etc. I want to know if you have a good side, what poses you like, how comfortable in front of the camera you are, and I want you both to feel comfortable with me, too. You’ll learn my prompts, how I pose, and figure out which poses of mine you like or don’t like, so that we don’t spend any time on your wedding day doing things you don’t like. Also, having your makeup trial the same day as your engagement sessions helps you see how you will photograph with makeup on. Some people end up wanting to increase their makeup or tone it down after seeing how it looks in photos. What if you aren’t local? Not a problem! At least half of my clients aren’t local. You have a couple choices. First, you can have me come to you and shoot your session in your city. I’ve done this a number of times! I can fly in for the day or take a train. Just pick me up at the airport/station, we go around taking photos, then drop me back off. Super easy. Second, we can do it when you’re in town for your bridal showers, dress fittings, home for the holidays or a friend’s wedding. Trust me- it’s almost always possible. I strongly believe engagement photos will ensure that you will love your wedding photos and I do make every effort to make sure every single one of my clients has the opportunity to have an engagement session prior to their wedding day. So while I can’t force you to have one, I want to make sure you know the importance of them, and that I do everything I can schedule-wise and travel-wise to make sure they can happen.

Travel fees for engagement sessions (includes flights, hotels, transportation, time):

  • Detroit, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Ann Arbor (no fee)

  • Lake Michigan- Saugatuck, Holland, South Haven areas ($100)

  • Chicago and Northern Michigan- Traverse City/Petoskey/Harbor Springs areas ($500)

  • Mackinac Island ($800)

  • NYC, Boston, Newport, DC ($1000)

  • Europe including Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, London, etc (starting at $1000-$3000)

  • For all other destinations, please inquire directly for a quote

Customize Your Collection

Add On Services

 

Wedding Album – $1650. Includes 40 thick pages, up to 100 images, leather/linen/suede covers, one design, one revision, shipping to your home.

Third Photographer – $1200 flat rate for the same hourly coverage as the primary photographer (8 hours). A third photographer is essential for very large weddings (over 300 people) as well as very condensed timelines. This allows us to cover more in a short period of time, ensuring photos of certain portions of your day aren’t taken out or reduced, and you still receive a large volume of images from your day.

Additional Hours of Coverage – $400 for each additional hour beyond those included. 

Additional Location/Outfit for Engagement Session- $200 for an additional 30 minutes to be added to the engagement session. Allows for an additional outfit change and location.

Engagement Session – $600 for 1-1.5 hours. Includes the digital files edited with the rights to reprint for personal use. This is included in all collections, but some couples choose to add a second engagement session in a different season or location.

Elopements or Weddings Under 8 Hours – $800/hr. Bookings for elopements and small weddings are accepted 2-3 months prior to the wedding date.

Welcome Party/Rehearsal Dinner Coverage – $1600 for two hours of coverage. Includes digital files, color correction, consultation, timeline and shot list prep.

Travel- Prices vary for location, but can include 1-2 nights in a hotel, plane fare, ferry tickets, parking fees, rental car, etc. Please inquire with your specific location for a quote. 

Venue Walk Through/Site Visit – $300.  While I feel 100% confident photographing in new locations (any professional wedding photographer should be able to do this with ease), some couples feel more comfortable if their photographer does a walk through of their venue prior to the wedding day. This meeting lasts up to one hour, and is also used to sit down and talk about the wedding day timeline and discuss the photo options and portrait list. Includes the meeting, plus travel to and from the venue. Can be added before or after the engagement shoot as well.

Albums and Print Products

We have sampled MANY wedding albums that are being sold out there and this company is simply the best as far as quality goes! We’ve done the sampling so that you don’t have to— trust us, and if you don’t- we have a sample in house to blow you away.

Flush Mount Leather Album – a 10×10 flush mount album with 40 thick pages (fits 60-100 images). Images are adhered to card stock, providing for strong, thick pages. Select from a beautiful array of covers, such as linens, silks, and leathers. Embossing, cameo, additional pages, and presentation box options.  $1650

Purchasing an album means having the weight taken off you to select images (although you can select them if you want to!) and design them. The Knot once completed a survey and it’s results said that if the couple did not make an album within one year of marriage, then they were likely never to. With digital images, photos now sit on our hard drives and get buried on social media. Prints and albums are the tangible products that we can hang on our walls, view every day, hold in our hands, and pass down for generations. Albums tell the story of the day and are built to stand the test of time.
